The Woven Pavilion
- Project Name : The Woven Pavilion
- Site Area : 4800 sq.ft.
- Design Team : Yashasvi Mehta, Dishita Shah
- Type Of Project : Public Space
The Woven Pavilion symbolizes how public spaces can be redesigned to make it more interesting and integrative to the people and the cityscape around it.
The design concept revolved around asking the question of how can we make a public square an integrative part of the users' everyday lives. A place that is so accessible that it glides into a person's daily walking routine but also leaves enough room for this person to use this space in their own way. We wanted to create a design that not only interacts with the people inside this square but also with the people that are walking on the road or the footpath.
The Pavilion is designed as a pod that can be replicated in different parts of the city. It is made of bamboo and a translucent fabric that creates an interesting pathway for people to walk through while also serving as a landmark. The cut outs in the fabric creates a dancing array of shadows that is always moving at different parts of the day.
